About

Jorge López Sotomayor studied film and TV direction at the Catholic University in Santiago, the San Francisco Art Institute and UCLA extension, in California. He also studied actor’s direction and screenwriting at the Sherwood Oaks Experimental Film College of California.
Made his Feature debut in 1983 with “El Ultimo Grumete”, which ended up a classic of Chilean Films. He then proceded to direct numerous series both fiction and documentary for Chilean Television, including “VISIONES”, “Unas y Otras”, “La Aventura del Cambio”, “K2 la montaña de las montañas”, and “CRIMEN Y MISTERIO”.
His latest Feature film “XS, the worst size” was awarded best Feature Film in the Youth film Festival of Auburn, Australia, 2003, the “Audience´s Award” at the Lebu International Film Festival in Chile, 2004, and the Best Actor Award at the Cuenca International Film Festival, Ecuador, 2005. He currently presides over the Chilean Association of Film Directors and Scriptwriters ADG.
