With over four decades of firefighting experience, Henry “Hank” Levins has devoted his life to the fire service in nearly every capacity imaginable. He served more than 35 years in the fire service, including 26 years with the Gulfport Fire Department in Mississippi, retiring as Deputy Fire Chief. Hank also served 21 years with the Mississippi Air National Guard as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) firefighter, retiring from military service in 2010. His career has been defined by dedication, integrity, and a deep respect for the profession he loves.
In 2021, Hank authored Fire Apparatus of the Gulfport Fire Department, a comprehensive history chronicling over 120 years of the department’s firefighting equipment and traditions. A passionate historian and collector, he has preserved numerous pieces of fire service history and continues to serve the profession today from the private sector.
