Plants. Nature. The Biodiversity Heritage Library, an online treasure trove of botanical illustrations. The illustrations were made for scientific purposes, and have an accuracy and a forensic attention to detail that is impressive. They also happen to be elegant, refined, and beautiful. Here, I have taken them out of their original context, and remade them as an element in my own work. Layered together with collages of plastic packaging they have been stripped of their original scientific purpose, and given a new context. Where is the balance of natural and artificial? Is there such a thing?
