May un Mar Lady cartoons by UK Cartoonist Dave Follows written in Potteries dialect, the regional language traditionally spoken by the people of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Central England. The strip was first published in The Sentinel July 1985 to October 2003 and is currently enjoying a full re-run of (7,000 strips) daily as of April 19, 2004 entitled May un Mar Lady Revisited.

Cartoonist Dave Follows born, Stafford (1941-2003) made the successful transition from amateur cartoonist to professional in 1973. Dave was an extremely popular and highly regarded member of the Cartoonist club of Great Britain, where he met many life long friends. Dave produced thousands upon thousands of original art works with what seemed effortless skill, almost all of Daveís 30-year output still exists today, and its popularity remains as strong as ever. Dave lived in Stafford throughout his life with wife Audrey they have three sons Darren, Steve and Christopher.

We’re all extremely proud of Dave and his work, this book marks the 6th anniversary of Dave’s passing. We’re looking forward to sharing the enormity and brilliance of Dave’s humour and artistic talent by publishing many more of Dave’s brilliant cartoons in the future. We hope you enjoy this small clutch of May un Mar Lady cartoons selected from Dave’s archives.
