About the Book
Rejection is a powerful thing. It can spur one to reach for the heights of artistic greatness, like an inky-fingered Icarus, as well as fill up a large blue file-box stuffed with countless single-panel cartoons. "The Plural of Ibis is Ibes" is a collection of cartoons submitted to the famously rigorous New Yorker magazine. For a year straight, Pollux sent in 10 cartoons a week. They flew off to the Big Apple like tremulous nightjars. None were published by The New Yorker nabobs. Nevertheless, the one who birthed them decided to give the best of the best of them a home. This is the result.
