    About the Book

    Edit

Personal memoir written by John Henry Cooke. Born in Over, 1848 he was appointed the first Clerk to the Winsford Local Board on 7th September 1875 and retired on 31 March 1926 at the age of 77. This account is based on a transcription of John Henry Cooke's personal notes, written in his own hand in his own copy of the book he produced in 1899 recording events held in Cheshire to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, 1897. His daughter, Annie Mary Murrell (nee Cooke) described it as 'a memento of a very worthy gentleman'. With notes by Andrew and Annelise Fielding of events and people mentioned in the memoir.
