    About the Book

    Edit

The original Mid Argyll Hospital opened in 1863 as the Lochgilphead (or Mid Argyll) Isolation Hospital and the poorhouse which is now office accommodation for the current Mid Argyll Hospital. The young people decided to compile a book on people’s memories of their time associated with the hospital and photographs that evoked and stimulated visions of both good times and bad times.
They have also undertaken the task of designing, developing and installing a structure in the woodlands to commemorate the 150 years of the old hospital. It was decided that engraving the tree rings with words like "hope", "peacefulness" and "safety" would evoke an empathic picture of what the installation was trying to achieve – a concept that runs throughout this publication.
