    About the Book

    Edit

Black and White Photography of the Salton Sea, Joshua Tree National Park, Ship Rock, Owens Valley, Mono Lake, RT 66 and desert flowers.

The photography in this book speaks to the stories of time passing and the lasting legacy that man leaves on nature. From the lonely figure cut by the Joshua Tree to the primitive Tufa spires and pinnacles that line Trona and Mono Lake, there exists a theme of man vs. nature. In October 2009, I set out on a road trip across the United States. From the pristine Dunes of Cape Cod to the arid deserts of California, I was drawn to the nostalgia of the crumbling structures that I found along the highways of the American West. The skeletons of the old buildings that leaned against remote landscapes, as the land reclaimed the last bits of wood and mortar with creeping vines, sand and grass. I captured the stark beauty of a vibrant time in American history that is survived by only abandoned structures and lonely roads.
