Ryan and I happened to be up Whistler the weekend of the Westbeach Classic competition (luckily two years in a row). This particular day I had a little Olympus rangefinder camera from the 1970s. Its fastest shutter speed topped out at 1/500 of a second, which, as you can see, is right at the edge of freezing motion. In addition to emphasizing the snowboarder, the 42mm lens on this camera also allows for clear viewing of the spectators on the far edge of the half-pipe.
