About the Book
In 2024 I created a series of mostly-improvised artworks based on the songs of Bon Iver’s “22, A Million” and what they mean to me. I’d listen to the music and see what kind of picture grew from it. It turned into something arguably life-changing, at least enlightening.
The following year, I came across the art books of Peter Lyssiotis and was struck by an un-ignorable creative drive. Peter’s work inspired me to make my own art book, and I already had most of the pieces ready. “Our Garden” was the perfect thing to compile into a book - the artworks are coherent, yet cryptic. By themselves they don’t make much sense. In this book I’ve added an accompanying page to each artwork, to give a little more insight into what the hell all this could mean.
It still won’t make much sense, and that’s deliberate. This project came from my own interpretation of a musical album which is about as opaque and confusing as it gets. I want people to look at these artworks and think about them. Never mind what they mean to me.
I want you to imbue them with your own meaning, and see what grows from there.
