About the Book
The landscape artist
MINO studies landscapes in a profound and reflective manner. As he explores nature, he marvels at the vastness of mountains and carefully observes phenomena such as light, haze and fog. Through a passe-partout, or frame, he sees the landscape not just as a mere image, but as a complex scene influenced by numerous factors: the highs and lows, the colours, sharpness, and the countless details in the foreground and background.
MINO often goes out into nature to faithfully capture the elements and the sky. He is especially fascinated by the fog that occurs in different atmospheric conditions and shapes the horizon with changing colours. In doing so, he reflects on how light and atmosphere change the perception of landscape, depicting a vision of immensity.
He explains that the blue we see in the atmosphere is not actually a real colour, but rather something that is created by a warm haze. This haze is produced by tiny, barely perceptible atoms that scatter the sun’s rays. And this phenomenon is what makes the light appear to glow and have colour, although in reality, it is the result of physical interactions within the atmosphere. MINO believes this is a kind of poetic representation of the universe’s infinite nature, in which light fights against the darkness of space, shaping our perception in the process.
In a nutshell, MINO sees the landscape not just as a visual experience, but as a profound story that is told through light, atmosphere and natural phenomena. His works are an intellectual exploration of nature and its infinite beauty.
