    About the Book

    Edit

Step into the unforgiving, sun-scorched world of Ted M. Atchley's American West, where the landscape is as vast and complex as the human heart. "Cactus Dust" is a masterful collection of short stories that strips the frontier myth down to its raw, emotional bone, offering narratives less about heroic gunfights and more about the quiet, brutal calculus of survival.

    Ted Atchley
    Clayton, NC

A storyteller at heart, Ted M. Atchley Jr. has always been fascinated by the human experience. He and his wife of more than 30 years have built a life in the heart of North Carolina, where their world is joyfully ruled by their two dogs, Duke and Gizzard. The couple has three grown children spread across the country from coast to coast. Ted's career has been a journey through the worlds of words and ideas, first as a journalist chasing stories, and later as a college instructor and teacher shaping young minds. Ted believes life's most profound lessons often come from unexpected places. Following a personal health crisis that reshaped his perspective, Ted felt a new calling. He became a Certified Nurse’s Aide, trading the classroom for the clinic for several years to offer the same compassion he had once received. He currently works as an Artificial Intelligence trainer and editor for one of the leading tech companies in the world.
