    About the Book

    Edit

Soundings: Lost Villages explores the history and memory of Ontario communities submerged by the St. Lawrence Seaway project in 1958. Through landscape photographs, sound works, and essays, the book traces what remains visible and what lingers beneath the surface—roads that end at water, shorelines reclaimed by wetlands, and voices carried across the river into the present. Both a visual record and a meditation on displacement, it invites readers to consider the cultural and personal costs of progress.
