About the Book
This book tells the story of the 60+ year career of one of ag aviation’s premier pilots. His story includes adventures in Central America on the heels of the assassination of Somoza Garcia, a violent encounter with disgruntled Mexican dusters in Reynosa, and a brief but profitable career bootlegging for Louise Hathcock and the State Line Gang. When the economies of Mississippi and Texas faltered, California beckoned, so Harold and his family headed west and dusted, sprayed, fertilized, and seeded the fields of the Sacramento Valley for three decades.
Harold’s story is in a way the story of all ag pilots from that era, and the things they did to put food on the table by doing the only thing in life they could see doing, which was flying.

I used to write scientific papers, and instruction manuals, and safety protocols, and lots of technical stuff. Now I write stories about my adventures in racing, traveling with my friends, novels based on the lives of real people, and I create the occasional photo book to give as gifts to friends I had traveled with.
