    About the Book

    Edit

Brice Gelot, (b.1985) is a French street and documentary photographer, he has produced a compelling photo series titled Straight Out of the Hood, which delves into the influence of people of the margins and criminal organizations.

"Napoli" and this series of collectible book named by city, highlight raw and powerfull black and white photographs documenting the gritty reality of life on the streets and about the tattoo community. Gelot’s immersive approach captures the social and economic struggles of these communities, aiming to showcase the history and culture of urban areas beyond typical depictions.

His passion for photojournalism is driven by the belief that images can be a powerful tool for social change and can facilitate important conversations about the most pressing issues of our time to raise awareness and educate. He want to help by breaking down stereotypes and promote better understanding, but also reflect on important issues such as poverty, street violence, humanitarian crisis, social justice and human rights.

His work has been recognized internationally, earning him awards and features in exhibitions like Art Basel Miami and the Biennale Artbox Expo in Venice. In his role as a photojournalist, he deeply values freedom of speech, actively engages in the field, and advocates for taking assertive positions.
