About the Book
Inspired by beauty magazines, catalogs, and yearbooks, this collection showcases a plethora of drawings that represent the artist's unique, stylized portraits. Described as "naive" or "folk" art, the drawings convey raw expression unencumbered by tradition. Many drawings display elements of minimalism and realism, while others invite the viewer to explore the underlying story conveyed by the artist.
In 2019, the artist had a vision to draw and apply her images to book format so her work could be widely viewed. Initially, the drawings were minimal but soon evolved into a more expressive style, with a dreamlike overcast, a gothic, uncanny, or surreal aspect emerging in the later works.

About the Creator
Tracy Kocsis
Ohio
Self-taught artist inspired by outsider, naive and folk artists such as Lee Godie, Anderson Johnson, Esther Pearl Watson, and many more. As a child, I spent summer mornings drawing people at my grandparent's kitchen table before running off to play. I've been drawing much more in the last few years, specifically, since the Pandemic. I continue to draw in my free time, as it is good for my wellbeing.
