About the Book
This book tells the journey of the Maria Bennett Hock as she discovered the black and white photos taken by Alex and Margaret Smoot in 1937 on Bostian Alley while visiting Waterworks Visual Arts Center. The pictures are an emotional depiction of life on the Alley. As an artist, Hock painted the pictures imagining the colors and adding a new life to the story. Hock also explains her thoughts as she painted. Finding her passion for art and painting at age 58 opened a whole new world for her.
