    About the Book

    Edit

What does Japan look like in the eye of a first-time visitor? What memories does that sight invoke in someone for whom Japan is mostly a childhood memory? In Search of Japan is a unique collaboration between photographer Cochran and essayist Tachino that combines Cochran’s artistic sensibilities and Tachino’s thoughtful reflection. Cochran’s photographs are stunning and fresh, and they always offer something new, even when they represent oft-photographed scenes. Tachino’s narrative is at times introspective and at times whimsical, but it never fails to take the reader on a deeper journey into Japanese society and culture.
