Portrait of a Generation X Artist, 1996. Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll, Jazz, Raves, Love and Renaissance. Louis drops out of the normal real world leaving a mediocre first job he abhors after graduating and a serious girlfriend on the verge of getting married knowing he wants something different out of life. Louis has aspirations of being a writer after reading a borrowed copy of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and starts a business managing and booking local bands. He concocts a plan to launch a LouisIAna music movement like Seattle Grunge playing on New Orleans’ foundations of Jazz and Funk. His journey leads him through experimental wild times tasting the realms of a hedonistic scene opening his eyes to intense pleasure and pain. Louis and his vast crew of friends venture to music festivals, lots of nightlife, concerts, parties, raves and other intoxicating events testing the bounds of modern chemistry. Louis forms a plan to launch an art magazine in Baton Rouge called Evolve that will lead to a LouisIAna Renaissance. Kimberly is a wild child friend of Louis’ who falls into the Rave scene while providing extreme pleasures to the wild crew. Robyn is a well-connected local offering her organizer that gets involved in launching Evolve and helping to facilitate the movement. The perpetual question is if they can create a World Class Art Scene in LouisIAna by forming a team using the unfocused resources.
