    About the Book

    Edit

Elastic Videology celebrates 20 years of some of the stars of our video world from the beginning of our collaboration in 1999 in art and in life showing a miscellanea catalog of stills, books, videos, video installations, video performances, and large-scale projects of public video art. This book you are about to enjoy is not just any catalog. It is an expanded catalog, on the net, which through the QRs connects and expands the catalog itself with the space of the web connections, with the use of video links and textual links that allow you to enter in depth and in multimedia mode, in the artistic universe and in the twenty-year artistic research of Elastic Group, in their MetaVideo World. This is an expanded catalog, in which the circularity of information and the flow of data are superimposed on the temporal sequence of the video image, because this catalog is conceived as a loop of video frames but also as a network of textual interconnections with the captions and QR codes. This is not a catalog, it is a Code.

    ELASTIC Group of Artistic Research
    Rome, Italy

Over the past 22 years, the ELASTIC Group of Artistic Research (Alexandro Ladaga and Silvia Manteiga Pousa) has achieved international acclaim as a pioneering artistic collective that makes groundbreaking public video art and environmental media installations. Their work reflects, in a videosophic way, on the new space of the infosphere. ELASTIC participates in the international art dialogue with work that is grounded in powerful conceptual ideas. Their work results from meticulously analyzing the reality that envelops us. ELASTIC’s sensitivity to technological media and its evolution makes these artists attentive to modernity and its many facets. Marcel Duchamp's motto, "the public makes the art," is the starting point for their work. They take care to intensify the relationship between the artistic product and the viewer. This exchange between art and viewer is always part of their artistic process and becomes embedded in the work they produce.
