    About the Book

    Edit

After the 1906 earthquake along the San Andreas Fault, an oil pocket opened up in Miles Standley's backyard. Selling his property to the government for a healthy sum, he moved his family to a posh neighborhood in San Francisco. while working for the Examiner, a locial newspaper, a successful owner of a publishing company got ear of him and asked him to come to work for him. He eventually conceded, bumping him further into the aritstocratic society. Success became a fever, embezzling MIles' time. Before he knew it, his kids were grown and his wife had died leaving his home and heart with a vast emptiness.

Then the Great Depression hit in the 1930's. While most everyone was affected by it, Miles was not. He'd become a miser, hoarding coins, green backs and the precious
scrip issued by the banks. However, happiness could not be bought nor could the youth he once knew. Now in his golden years, he resolved it was time to retire. But then what? A wild notion grew in his mind until it blossomed. He would leave all he'd accumlated in his life behind to journey "On the Backside of Tomorrow."
