Brazil has been going through political turmoil in recent years. Dilma, the 36th president, was impeached in 2016 and Lula, the one preceding her, has been in prison since 2018. A newly elected president Bolsonaro (“Brazilian Trump”) seems to want to lead the country back to the military dictatorship of the not-so-distant past. Economic recovery, after the recession of 2015, has been slow and the deforestation of the Amazon has been accelerating at an alarming speed…
